I received a couple of emails from foreigners saying that once they come to Singapore, they lose a lot and lot of hair, to a ‘frightening’ extent!
This has me recalling the words from my colleague: that his Indonesian servant experienced the same hair loss problem when she came to Singapore.
My colleague and others whom I have overheard in public places have attributed this phenomenon to the food and water we eat: outside food contains MSG and Singapore’s tap water which most Singaporeans boil for drinking consumption now has this NEWater component which is really artificial water, as a result of the government incorporation of NEWater to make up a portion of our drinking water few years back.
Though my hair loss symptom too starts roughly in the years following the incorporation of NEWater into our drinking water, I do not think that NEWater really causes hair loss..or it is scientifically inconclusive unless some studies are done to prove it.
Hair loss is now a common problem GLOBALLY. When I travel overseas or see overseas visitors in Singapore, quite a number of them experience hair loss too as young adults.
In my belief, hair loss is a result of globalisation: pace of city life, using too much computers, unhealthy diets and fruits, decreasing contact with nature and perhaps global warming has send in too much harmful rays to kill hair follicles globally.
If you would like to test effects of food and drinks, you may want to try eating fresh and healthy food, partaking in purchased bottled mineral water here, do it for a month and see whether there is improvement.
